All American Pasta Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2lb ground beef(whatever you’d use for your BBQ’d burgers :)
  • 2 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 12oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large or 2 small onions, sliced into thin rings
  • 1lb whole wheat penne or rotini, uncooked
  • 8oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup Dijon or similar mustard(I would avoid simple yellow prepared mustard, I think)
  • 1/4 cup beef stock
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, divided
  • 2 1/2T favorite steak seasoning, divided
  • 1/2lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 8-12oz cheddar, colby or cojack cheese, grated
  • kosher or sea salt and fresh ground pepper

Instructions

  1. In large, deep skillet, cook ground meat until just losing pink color. Drain if needed.
  2. Add tomatoes, mushrooms, onion rings, 2T Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/2T steak seasoning, and salt and stir well.
  3. Continue cooking until veggie are just beginning to soften and tomatoes are cooked through.
  4. Drain mixture again, if necessary.
  5. In small sauce pan, melt cream cheese with beef stock, 2T Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, 1T steak seasoning and salt and pepper.
  6. Cook over low heat, stirring often, until melted and well mixed.
  7. Meanwhile, cook pasta per package directions. Drain.
  8. Toss warm pasta with warm cream cheese sauce.
  9. Top a serving of the pasta with a spoonful of the meat mixture, sprinkle with shredded cheese and bacon……then, when you eat it, mix and mash it all up together! :)
  10. Serve with salad……cus I couldn’t find a good way to get a green element into the dish! ;)
